9. FUNDING

One thing that all groups need from their formation is money which allows them to send letters and make phone calls. For any Group to develop a project or event it is vital to have the necessary funds. This series of factsheets explores the sources of funding available:-
 
Local Fundraising, Council Funding, Trusts, Statutory Funding and the National Lottery, giving practical and effective hints to help your group secure the funding required.

9a. Preparation for Fundraising

The key to successful fundraising is 'Good Preparation'. Good preparation involves clarifying aims and objectives and developing a Plan of Action prior to any fundraising. This booklet will give a brief introduction to the preparation required and the various sources of funds that are out there.

9f. The National Lottery

There are 5 areas of National Lottery funding - Charities, the Arts, Sports, Heritage and the Millennium. This factsheet provides a guide to the different bodies/agencies which are responsible for these five areas and the type of funding which may be available from each.

9g. National Lottery Charities Board

Of the five areas of the National Lottery Funding - the Charities Board is the most relevant to Community Groups regardless if they are a registered charity or not. This source of funding is specifically project driven and the type of project supported will depend upon the current round.
 
N.I.T.A.P. has developed this factsheet to introduce this particular source of funding and give some tips of the application process, type of projects appropriate and who can apply.
