N.I. Tenants Action Project as an independent body aims to increase the awareness of residents as to their rights and responsibilities in order to facilitate their effective participation in addressing their communities housing related needs.


5.1 To promote the active participation of Residents in the management and maintenance of the physical environment, particularly housing.

Activities
A.   To respond to as many valid requests for assistance as possible.
P.I   N.I.T.A.P. will respond to all requests for assistance within 4 weeks utilising the new referral procedure.
B.   To prioritise the use of resources to accomodate the needs of existing and new groups.
P.I   Projects will be assessed annually with progress monitored 6 weekly by Head of Projects.
C.   To regularly liaise with the N.I.H.E. to assess the need for N.I.T.A.P. assistance.
P.I.   The Director will meet regularly with N.I.H.E. Headquarters Staff. wo Senior Staff members will meet quarterly with Area Managers and Liaison Offices will meet District Staff on a regular basis.
 

5.2 To provide a high quality service to all groups.

Activities
A.   To identify the level and nature of service required and agree formal contract.
P.I.1   An assessment will be completed with each development project to set annual targets and renew contracts.
P.I.2   An anual Group Evaluation Form will be completed by each Community Group to monitor satisfaction of N.I.T.A.P. service provision.
B.   To increase the motivation, skills and performance of staff.
P.I.1   All Developmental and Advice Regular Projects will have agreed annual targets set after Groups A.G.M. Head of Projects will monitor progress on 6 weekly basis with Liaison Officer. N.I.T.A.P. will set Annual Project Targets and include progress see Appendix 3.
P.I.2   The new Staff Manual will be updated every 6 months with all relevant and necessary information included.
P.I.3   All staff will receive monthly bulletins on current and relevant issues.
P.I.4   All staff will participate in a Staff Training Programme.
P.I.5   Director will meet with individual Staff Members bi-monthly to evaluate, monitor and support.
 

5.3 To make readily available user friendly sources of relevant information to groups and agencies alike.

Activities
A.   To identify the information requirements of groups.
P.I.1   Routes will continue to be reviewed in accordance with the questionnaire Survey Report.
P.I.2   Community Groups will complete annually a questionnaire relating to the effectiveness of N.I.T.A.P.'s Information Service.
P.I.3   N.I.T.A.P. will update information requested quarterly.
B.   To provide information in the most appropriate format.
P.I.1   All factsheets/booklets will be reviewed annually.
P.I.2   Mew factsheets/booklets will be produced in response to the needs of Development Staff and Community Groups.
P.I.3   4 issues of 'Routes' magazine will be produced.
P.I.4   N.I.T.A.P.'s FunderFinder Service will be made available to Community Groups and agencies 2 days a week.
 

5.4 To develop effective relationships between N.I.T.A.P., Community Groups and other relevant bodies.

Activities
A.   To identify the level and nature of support required by each group.
P.I   N.I.T.A.P. will assess and point each group through the revised assessment procedure and confirm the level and nature of support in the N.I.T.A.P. contract. All new referrals will be assessed within 4 weeks.
B.   To develop effective relationships between N.I.T.A.P. Community Groups and other Statutory and Voluntary Bodies.
P.I   N.I.T.A.P. will develop Inter-Agency Groups, Strategy Groups and Fora incorporating all relevant Statutory and Voluntary Bodies to enhance effective relationships and partnerships.
 

5.5 To assist local Community Groups in fulfilling their potential and achieving their targets and goals.

Activities
A.   To identify the developmental needs of individuals within Groups.
P.I.1   N.I.T.A.P. Staff will assess individuals development needs annually after A.G.M.s.
P.I.2   N.I.T.A.P. will promote and facilitate training courses for individual Community Groups across the province.
P.I.3   Liaison Offices will assist groups to draw up Action Plans and identify their own training needs.
B.   To develop effective relationships between N.I.T.A.P. Community Groups and other Statutory and Voluntary Bodies.
P.I.1   N.I.T.A.P. will facilitate Interagency Fora to develop constructive working methos for groups to achieve their targets and goals.
P.I.2   N.I.T.A.P. will assist in the delivery of N.I.H.E. Training Workshops for individuals from Community Groups.
P.I.3   N.I.T.A.P. will meet with relevant Statutory and Voluntary Bodies to assess N.I.T.A.P.'s role.
 

5.6 To assist and advise appropriate agencies on the principles and models of community participation in the development and implementation of policies and strategies.

Activities
A.   To improve the channels/mechanisms/networks by which Community Groups can access other Statutory and Voluntary Bodies.
P.I.1   N.I.T.A.P. Staff will assist N.I.H.E. to develop and promote the Community Involvement Structure.
P.I.2   N.I.T.A.P. will update the Information Bank/Library on relevant policy issues.
B.   To increase the awareness of all Statutory and Voluntary Bodies and their services.
P.I   Routes will include regular updates and articles on relevant issues.
C.   To establish links with other groups.
P.I.   N.I.T.A.P. will support other Organisations, Agencies, Working Groups which directly or indirectly support residents i.e.:
